I first discovered Old Orchard Beach, Maine on the way back to Pennsylvania from a camping trip in Canada. We had stopped at Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor earlier and we were looking for a place to park our camper van for the night. My girlfriend at the time had heard of OOB from a friend and suggested we stop there.
All things travel with an emphasis on the Colorado outdoors. History to hiking, music to museums.

Visiting Honfleur, France
I had never heard of Honfleur, France before I accidentally stumbled upon it. I figure many other people havn't either, so i thought I'd share. My daughter and I were on our way to the D-Day beaches from Paris. We didn't have any particular schedule or route and were just headed toward the coast(I assumed this is where I would find beaches). It was about time to stretch our legs and explore a little and we just happened to stop at Honfleur. I'm glad we did.

Ricketts Glen State Park and Ganoga Falls in PA
I've lived in Lancaster County, PA most of my life and have done a lot of hiking here. I'm always looking for new places in the area to explore. Some friends suggested Ricketts Glen State Park, with its many waterfalls. I had never been there so I was eager to check it out. When my daughter and I were on our way home from a trip to Niagara Falls we had some extra time and decided to take a little detour. I thought we'd stick with the waterfall theme and do a little hiking at Ricketts Glen.

Lion Safari in Ontario
Ontario is not exactly the place I would think of finding a lion safari, but they do have one. I discovered it in 1995 while traveling through southwestern Ontario. I had just left Niagara Falls and was exploring the area with no particular destination in mind when I saw a sign saying African Lion Safari, so I went to check it out. I thought the safari was really interesting and made it part of our trip the last time my daughter and I visited the area.

Mt. Saint Helens Volcano
While staying with a friend near Portland, Oregon, I woke up early and was contemplating what to do for the day. Scanning the map, I saw Mt. Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument. I had never been there before and it wasn't far (about fifty miles straight line distance), so I decided to go check it out.

Central Market and Gallery Row of Lancaster, PA
When people think of visiting Lancaster, Pennsylvania, images of picturesque farmland, Plain people, and horse drawn carriages usually come to mind. Although, just focusing on the rural aspect of what Lancaster County has to offer would provide plenty to do, there is another side of the area that most tourists don't know about.

(Not) Exploring New Orleans, Louisiana
I spend alot of time outdoors for work and at the end of January I was fed up with the cold here in PA. I had vacation days that I had to use or lose, so I started scanning the internet for a cheap, warmer destination. I found a sale on flights from Philly to New Orleans for $73! The next order of business was to check the weather for the next weekend. It was going to be seventy-three degrees and sunny. sounds like a spot for me.
